The young cats that make Klankpoeder follow a well-known jazz quintet line up: two saxophones, piano, double bass and drums. Besides that, all instrumentalists go full steam ahead.
The band is initiated and led by drummer Ap Verhoeven and originated in a shared passion for uncompromising jazz music.
The musical result of this shared vision is a mix of energetic tunes with a lot of room for improvisation and interaction.
This is combined with more gentle, folk-like songs for the listener to sit back and relax to.

Klankpoeder Rotterdam, Netherlands

Klankpoeder is a contemporary jazz quintet based in Rotterdam.
The band’s name (Dutch for ‘Sound powder’) is a reference to a musician’s joke.
The joke being that someone is made to believe that they need to get to the pharmacist next door to ask for some ‘sound powder ‘- to improve the sound of their instrument, while no such thing exists.
